Offsite 2023: Beach Cleanup Challenge with 4Ocean

Marrying mission & method: why we chose to do a beach cleanup for our first CSR activation.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) isn't merely a box to tick for us at KAPX Group. It's an intrinsic part of our ethos, outlined by our core CSR goals.

But why a beach cleanup, and why partner with 4Ocean?

The answer lies in alignment. 4Ocean has set unprecedented standards in addressing meaningful global causes, chiefly the ocean plastic crisis. Teaming up with them reflected our shared vision for a greener future.

Making social action interesting: using our innate competitive natures to generate results.

While the primary mission was clear, we wanted to add an element of fun to encourage maximum participation and effort.

Enter the challenge: teams would race against time and each other to collect the most plastic waste.

The stakes?

The team with the smallest haul would face a daunting forfeit - a reverse bungee jump. Nothing like a bit of adrenaline to motivate some spirited competition!

People were divided into purple, pink and yellow teams.

And we’re off! Putting the team spirit into the beach clean-up.

Our teams from Singapore, the Philippines, and India, dove into the challenge head-first with sweat, laughter and the determined rustling of bags being filled.

It was a reflection of the KAPX spirit – driven, dedicated, and always supporting one another, regardless of borders or backgrounds.

50 kilograms of plastic waste was removed from the beach that morning.

The sun was shining with its full might, casting a golden hue over Pererenan Beach as we gathered to weigh our collective efforts.

Along with the 4Ocean team, saw over 50 kilograms of waste removed from the shores of Pererenan that morning.

While the environment was the real winner, we also had to celebrate the team that had collected the most: the pink team. Close behind was the yellow team.

A distant third was the purple team; who must now face the consequences of a reverse bungee, which we’ll share more about in our next post.
